How to turn a long screenshot into a multi-page PDF

Scrolling screenshots are great for capturing a whole chat, order history or article. But put one into a normal PDF converter and it gets squeezed onto a single page, as a tall strip with text too small to read. What you want is the image cut into page-height pieces, each filling the page width.

Why converters shrink it

Most converters "fit" each image onto one page. A 1080 × 9000 px screenshot is more than 8 times taller than it is wide. On an A4 page (about 1 : 1.41), fitting the whole height leaves it only about 17% of the page width.

Split it into pages in the browser

  1. Open PDFSnap and drop the screenshot in (or paste it with Ctrl+V).
  2. Choose A4 or US Letter and keep Split long screenshots across pages ticked.
  3. Click Create PDF. The image is scaled to the page width and sliced into as many pages as needed.

PDFSnap only splits images that are more than 1.5 times taller than a page, so ordinary photos and document scans stay one per page. Untick the option if you really want the whole strip on one page.
